First of all: Thank you. Thank you to everyone from Instagram who has found your way here. I am so excited to relaunch my newsletter on Bulletin. Now please hit the subscribe button at the top right corner of your screen!
For new friends, a brief introduction: My name is Elizabeth Holmes (no, not that one). I am a mother of three, a longtime style writer, and royal fashion enthusiast. I spent more than a decade on staff at the Wall Street Journal, most recently as a senior style reporter and columnist covering the business and messaging of fashion. A few years ago I left that job, moved across the country, and began freelancing for some of my favorite publications. It’s been so much fun to write about how headbands are the new crowns for the New York Times, or chat with the stars of The Crown for the cover of Town & Country.
Around the time I left the Journal, I started commenting on royal fashion on my Instagram Stories. I called my posts So Many Thoughts (or “SMT” for short) because, well, I had so many thoughts about what Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle wore to their public appearances. The colors, brands, and styles they chose say so much about who they are and what they value. To my surprise and delight, a community of super smart and savvy followers sprung up around SMT, wanting to decode their outfits along with me. (You can read more about how SMT came to be here here.) I spun the series into a book, HRH: So Many Thoughts on Royal Style, which hit the New York Times’ bestseller list when it debuted last fall (a big thank you to everyone who bought, gifted, and shared this book with family and friends).
Last month, I moved to Los Angeles with my family. This moment feels like the start of an exciting new chapter: new city, new house, new possibilities. I’m thrilled to relaunch my newsletter here on Bulletin as part of that. I’ll still weigh in on royal fashion on Instagram Stories — you can find me at @EHolmes — but I plan to use this space to dive deeper into news from the House of Windsor and beyond. So Many Thoughts, at its core, is about thinking things through and making thoughtful choices. I’m looking forward to writing more about personal style, motherhood, and career growth. I want to amplify new voices, too, and share this space with people I admire. And, as my Insta followers know, I can't resist a few recommendations about what I’m reading and where I’m shopping.
My newsletter will publish twice a week and, in these early days, I’ll be experimenting a bit with the format: personal essays, Q&As, listicles, a little bit of everything. This is a work in progress!
